I can't decide whether I want to show you the new artwork for the game! I've got some nice tiles, and I even just made up some fake levels to show off the great artwork that Johan has produced. I wanted to put up some screenshots, but somehow something in my mind tells me that might detract from seeing it for the first time in-game! There are only so many tiles, and showing screenshots of each of the different "worlds" Zep will visit throughout the game might not be a good idea. I'm sure no one would object if I showed some screenshots, but I still would like to keep it a surprise. I just don't know what to do!
I also found a link error in my organization article and fixed that up real quick!
Well finally we have an update. It's been about a month, and I truly am sorry. It's really hard to give a good explanation, because, well, too many things have been happening. First of all, many things have been going on in my personal life which have kept me from working on the site for a while. I've been meaning to update so many times, but I just didn't have the time to write up a lot about the few little things I had done each day. Then, eventually it came around to finals time at school - so that chomped out a bunch of time. And after finals? Vacation, obviously. This time I actually went away and didn't have the opportunity to work much on the site or the game at all!
As for actual progress made on the game itself: much more refactoring of code. I still haven't finished. It's a huge time-consuming operation. I also (fortunately) found a bug in the game that reappeared. It was one that I had previously fixed, but after optimising my code it came back! When there were solid tiles at the top of the screen and Zep falls to the bottom of the screen and should "die," he just stopped! I quickly found a way to stop it, which is great. It had to do with checking locations outside of the map array and having it return some bogus value that referred to some other values or whatnot. All fixed, so don't worry. I also worked on some levels, and tweaked more and more stuff.
So, sorry for the ultra lack of updates. Sometimes things just happend and you can't do much about it. Just know it was important and I didn't just forget about the site and felt like saying "No updates for the viewers! muahahahaa!" :) I just got back from being away, an it's late now, and I don't have the energy to go and archive all of the news from February into their own page. It's time to hit the hay for me.
