I added the Misc. Files section to the menu. Now you can browse through all of my miscellaneous files which don't really fit anywhere else. I plan on uploading source in the future once I clean it up, but for now all you get are the binaries. Right now it only features those items which I mentioned in my last post, but they should provide a fair amount of fun!

Enjoy!

Hopefully this post will be longer and more informational than most! I start school in a few days, but I hope that doesn't back up the work I wish to do on Zep's Dreamland. I really hope to finish it before Christmas, but that's something I cannot promise. So, let me tell you about the new things I've just added recently:

Alright, so a few posts back I said the first tutorial was completely finished. Well, that was true; but I scrapped it and created a completely new tutorial. Same content - but more fun. In the actual tutorial Zep basically came on the screen and took charge of everything. He wouldn't let you try anything out on your own; but now, I've recoded and rescripted the whole thing so that whenever a new basic gameplay element is introduced, you (the player) is given the opportunity to try it out first-hand; instead of watching Zep do it for you! Pretty nifty, huh? I also created a bunch of new portrait images, and some other stuff like the acceptance of other keys in order to advance through the messaging system. I fixed up a few bugs that would occur if you were currently in a tutorial, escaped back to the main menu, and then started a new game. No need to worry about doing that, now!

I also added some nice juicy eye-candy to the level intermission screen. Instead of seeing an ugly plain white-text-on-blue-background I created a nifty little system where the background of the level you just completed will show on the level completion screen, along with a nice looking overlay that makes the text very easy to read. It looks a lot nicer and is less tacky. Now when you beat a level you can really be proud!

I took a quick look through all of my old programs and unfinished stuff recently, and I found a lot of OpenGL test programs that are actually quite fun an interesting to watch. I was thinking I might possibly post the programs along with the source code just for fun, as a nice little extra feature to the site. I couldn't fit it under the games section, so I might just end up making a new section with misc. files. I think that this would be a fun little addition to the site. I need to find which Ogl test programs are worth the time to put up and archive the source for. Another little program I'd like to put in the misc. section would be the Vector Demo I made back when I was learning to use STL-Vectors. I think it would be a neato little edition, and the source code would definitely be included for any of those who would like to learn from it. I'll have to get on top of those two items as soon as I get enough time to do so!
